Erin Yuen, BFA, LLMSW

psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker

Hello, I’m Erin Yuen, a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker (LLMSW) dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals, primarily teens and adults. My greatest knowledge base lies in ADHD, with additional expertise in later-in-life diagnoses, women with ADHD, and giftedness/twice-exceptionality (2e). In my work with neurodivergent individuals, I focus on the emotional components of living with a brain-based difference and how to navigate a world that is not designed for us.

In addition to working with neurodivergent clients, I have experience addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, and complex trauma. I also support individuals dealing with grief, life transitions, performance anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and issues of self-worth. My background includes collaborating with students with challenging behaviors and working closely with their families and schools from a relationship-based neurodevelopmental perspective. I am a professional member of the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) and earned both my BFA and MSW from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

I utilize an integrative and relationship-based therapeutic approach that is collaborative, client-centered, and strength-based. With a commitment to evidence-based practice and life-long learning, I integrate a range of research-based interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs. These include cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, insight-oriented, and relational-cultural methods, along with elements of attachment theory, mindfulness practices, and psychoeducation.

My background in the arts enables me to offer clients the option to explore creative arts expression, such as art, music, and writing, if they are inclined. I also employ imagery and metaphors to enrich our sessions for clients drawn to figurative expression, providing new perspectives and deeper insights. Additionally, I draw on the healing power of story and infuse humor when moments of levity are needed, creating opportunities for shared laughter and deeper connection as we navigate challenging topics.

In our sessions, I view us as two explorers embarking on a journey. I bring a toolkit of skills and knowledge honed through years of study and practice, while you hold the map and compass of your own experience, intuition, callings, and insight. Together, we decide which paths to revisit and which new ones to explore. My goal is to support your growth and healing in a way that honors your personal journey and fosters authenticity, guiding you in forging your own path toward a fulfilling life.
